Marek Zídka, a well-known sound engineer and concert promoter, denied fraud charges at a Prague 6 court. According to the prosecutor, he borrowed hundreds of thousands of crowns for an event despite being heavily indebted.

Marek Zídka, who has long worked as a sound engineer and organiser of musical productions, appeared before the District Court for Prague 6 on Friday. In the proceedings, he denied committing the criminal offence of fraud. The prosecutor accuses him of borrowing several hundred thousand crowns from an acquaintance to organise a club event in Pardubice, where world-renowned disc jockeys were to perform. According to the charge, he took the money at a time when he was already heavily indebted financially and knew he would be unable to repay the debt. The defendant denied in court that he intended to defraud the creditor. He maintains that he intended to repay the loan properly and that there was no deliberate concealment of his financial situation.
Zídka has a relatively well-known name in the music industry. In the past, he also collaborated with the band Nazareth, where he worked as a sound engineer.
