Detectives are searching for a man who on Saturday, 26 September 2026 at around 14:00 attacked a woman in Bajkalská Street in Prague 10 because of her black skin colour. According to policie.gov.cz, the case is being investigated as a prejudice-motivated offence – a hate crime.

The woman was walking with her thirteen-year-old daughter from Kubánské Square when an unknown man addressed her in English with the words "Go back to your country". After she replied that she was Czech, he showered her with racist insults and proceeded to physically assault her: he kicked her in the legs and struck her in the head with his fists. She suffered bruising and superficial head injuries. The attacker also damaged her mobile phone and tore her coat – the total damage reached 19,000 crowns. After the attack, he fled along Bajkalská Street towards Karpatská, where he lost sight of onlookers.

According to the victim's description, the sought man is approximately 23 to 25 years old, white, approximately 180 centimetres tall, with a slim athletic build. He has a slim face, blonde curly hair approximately shoulder length with noticeably lighter ends and light stubble. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a conspicuously coloured hooded sports jacket in a combination of yellow, green and dark grey or black, dark jeans and light sports shoes. He spoke Czech fluently without an accent.

Detectives compiled an identikit with the victim of the sought man, which police released together with an appeal to witnesses. The case is being investigated on suspicion of committing offences of disorderly conduct and violence against a group of persons and against an individual – in the event of apprehension and conviction, up to three years' imprisonment is threatened. Witnesses can contact police on line 158.
