Criminal investigators in Hostinné detained a 28-year-old man who repeatedly broke into various buildings. He used force to gain entry and took money. In eight different cases, he caused damage to property owners exceeding 200,000 crowns.

The perpetrator targeted buildings in the area around Trutnov, in the regional city of Hradec Králové and in Nová Paka. He took primarily cash from the buildings. The damage from stolen items amounted to more than 130,000 crowns, with damage to property totalling a further nearly 75,000 crowns.

Police established that the man had a previous conviction for the same activity. He was released from prison in July last year. However, he soon returned to theft.

The commissioner submitted a proposal for the man's detention, which was accepted by the judge in Trutnov. The accused is now awaiting trial in prison.

Should he be found guilty, he faces a sentence of up to five years.
