Surrounded from all sides: burglar in Brno had nowhere to escape
A nighttime burglary of a family home in Brno's Černé Pole district ended with the arrest of a 36-year-old man, according to Blesk.cz. An alert neighbour noticed the burglar and called police and municipal police officers around 1 a.m.
"An attentive witness alerted us to the suspicious man on Tišnovská Street. Two patrols immediately headed to the scene. While one officer checked the entrance, another searched the garden and looked through the windows. The second patrol secured the area from the street," said municipal police spokesperson Jakub Ghanem.
The patrols soon discovered a broken glass pane and another broken window. One of the officers soon spotted the suspect inside the house and, with a drawn service weapon, ordered him to remain where he was.
But the man did not surrender. He ran upstairs, opened the window and attempted to jump into the street. There, however, officers and police were already waiting for him. With no means of escape, he had to come down to them.
Even after arrest, he did not cooperate fully. He attempted to pass himself off as another person and told police he was 27 years old. He apparently forgot that his face was well known to law enforcement. "It was a known repeat offender who has ended up serving time once again," added police spokesperson Andrea Cejnková.
