Tradesmen in Hradec Králové conned senior out of money for poor roof painting

Police in Hradec Králové have alerted the public to a group of dubious tradesmen who target older citizens. In the case currently under investigation, a group of four suspects agreed with a pensioner to paint his roof. However, after completing the work, the men demanded a higher sum than was originally agreed, and forced the senior to withdraw money from a bank. The work carried out was considerably poor quality.

Fraudsters often exploit the trusting nature of seniors and their limited ability to assess the quality of work performed. In this case, the group of men offered to paint the roof of the homeowner. After completion, however, they began demanding coercively a higher fee than what they had originally agreed to. They forced the senior to withdraw money from a bank. Meanwhile, the painting work that was done was very poorly executed and did not meet the agreed standards.

Police therefore appeal to seniors and their relatives to be cautious when dealing with unknown tradesmen. They recommend always verifying reference work, requesting a written cost estimate in advance, and contacting the police in case of doubt. Similar fraud cases have been increasing recently, and perpetrators often target older citizens who are more susceptible to manipulation.
