On Friday afternoon, a serious traffic accident occurred between the villages of Lipina and Horní Loděnice in the Olomouc region. A 34-year-old man behind the wheel of a Hyundai i30 overtook across a continuous white line, which resulted in a collision with a turning vehicle.
He first overtook one vehicle in a left-hand bend. He then attempted to overtake a second vehicle, a Ford Mondeo. At that moment, however, the Ford driver began to turn left. The Hyundai driver did not have time to react and a collision occurred.
After the crash, the Ford spun around, knocked over a red bollard and ended up in the left ditch. The 37-year-old Ford driver had two other passengers in the vehicle. All three women were transported by emergency services to Šternberk hospital. The police are continuing to investigate the causes and circumstances of the accident.
Breath tests for both drivers produced negative results. Material damage to both vehicles was preliminarily estimated at 400,000 crowns.
