City guards in Slaný took action against a man who attempted to drive a car whilst heavily intoxicated. The city police were alerted to the dangerous situation by a vigilant passer-by.
The patrol stopped the vehicle before an accident could occur. During a check, it emerged that the man had 2.98 per mille of alcohol in his blood. The case was subsequently taken over by the state police, who apprehended the driver on suspicion of committing a criminal offence. The vehicle was towed away.
The case demonstrates how important civic responsibility is. When people alert authorities to risky behaviour in time, they can save lives.
