Three men from the fairground community face charges of human trafficking. They promised socially disadvantaged victims employment contracts and salaries, but in reality forced them to do hard labour with no entitlement to pay in appalling conditions.

Investigators from the National Centre Against Organised Crime have accused three men of labour exploitation. The detained men include a father and his two sons, who make their living operating fairground attractions. The case was reported by police spokeswoman Barbora Kudláčková, according to Novinky.cz.
According to detectives, the group deliberately targeted people from poor backgrounds. They offered them employment with proper compensation and guaranteed accommodation. The reality, however, was entirely different – instead of payment, the victims had to carry out demanding manual tasks.
The accused allegedly kept their victims in conditions that grossly failed to meet basic hygiene standards and were degrading for them. To ensure compliance, they allegedly used psychological pressure and physical assault.
The unlawful activity was allegedly carried out mainly in the Vysočina and Pardubický regions, and has been occurring at least since 2022. Police have not disclosed the specific number of victims.
During the operation in recent days, investigators worked with specialists from the Rapid Deployment Unit. A judge ordered all three men to be remanded in custody. The investigation is being overseen by prosecutors from the Hradec Králové Regional State Prosecutor's Office. If found guilty, the perpetrators face up to twelve years' imprisonment.
