Court upholds agreement: two former StB officers receive suspended sentences for persecution of actor Töpfer
Two officers of the communist State Security service who persecuted actor Tomáš Töpfer during the previous regime for his views and Jewish heritage reached an agreement with the state prosecutor for two-year suspended sentences. The court upheld the agreements on Monday.

Two former officers of the communist State Security service who persecuted actor Tomáš Töpfer during the totalitarian regime on account of his political views and Jewish heritage concluded an agreement on guilt and sentence with the state prosecutor. The court upheld the agreements on Monday. Both men received two-year prison sentences with conditional suspension.
Töpfer was systematically harassed and persecuted during the previous regime precisely because of his heritage and views. The court ruling represents a formal moral condemnation of the StB's activities against him.
