The Regional Court in Ostrava ruled on the acquittal of 13 accused persons and two legal entities in a case concerning alleged excise duty evasion on motor fuels. Among the acquitted entities is the company FAU.
The criminal prosecution was based on suspicion that the accused unlawfully manipulated tax obligations in fuel trading. The investigation focused on an extensive network of commercial transactions in which public budget shortfalls were alleged to have occurred.
After evaluating the evidence presented, the court concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove the guilt of the accused. All accused were acquitted. The sentence is not yet final; the state prosecutor may appeal.
The case was among significant economic crime cases in the energy and motor fuel sector. The extensive investigation included analysis of supply chains and financial flows between the entities involved.
