State Prosecutor Pivoda Definitively Punished for Anabolic Steroids, Appellate Court Upholds 110,000 Crown Fine
The Olomouc Regional Court has definitively upheld a monetary penalty of 110,000 crowns against Přerov state prosecutor David Pivoda. The penalty was imposed on him for illegal possession and use of anabolic steroids.
Both parties to the proceedings appealed against the original judgment. Pivoda himself requested conditional discontinuation of criminal prosecution. Conversely, prosecutor Robert Henzel sought a stricter sentence at the appellate court. However, the regional court upheld the original decision.
The case concerns a judicial officer who was responsible for criminal prosecution of others, yet himself committed unlawful conduct in the area of prohibited substances. Anabolic steroids fall under anti-doping legislation and their possession without authorisation constitutes a criminal offence.
