Prosecutor conditionally halts prosecution of prison guard from whom inmate escaped during transfer
The criminal prosecution of a sixty-two-year-old guard from the prison in Kynšperk nad Ohří has ended with a conditional halt to proceedings. This decision was made by prosecutor Roman Šustáček. The man was a member of an escort during which one of the transported convicted prisoners escaped in July of last year.
The General Inspectorate of Security Forces charged the guard with dereliction of guard duty. The precise circumstances of the inmate's escape and the degree of the guard's culpability were not disclosed.
Conditional halting of prosecution means that if the accused does not commit another criminal offence within a certain period, the prosecution will be definitively terminated without a verdict.
