Prague city guards detained a fifty-five-year-old man on Monday afternoon who triggered an alarm at a vocational school in Čelákovice in the morning. Colleagues saw him with a pistol in front of the school building.
The arrest took place shortly before 2 p.m. in Strašnice. During a search, police found no firearm on him. The authority promises further details about the case on Wednesday.
The man is a teacher and has connections to the Čelákovice school. He holds a firearms licence, but has no weapon registered. At the time of the incident, he was struggling with psychological problems.
The search deployed approximately sixty patrols. The operation expanded from the Central Bohemian Region through Prague to the Hradec Králové region. The suspect switched vehicles.
In Nový Bydžov, where the man has further connections, the municipal office preventively closed official buildings. It recommended local schools cancel classes.
Police are now gathering facts to clarify the entire incident.
