Criminal investigators have charged a fifty-five-year-old teacher from Prague's Čelákovice with the criminal offence of dangerous threats, for which he faces up to three years imprisonment. Police apprehended the man on Tuesday following an extensive search in the capital.
The suspect teaches at a local trade school. Witnesses saw him with a weapon, and police also obtained information about his poor mental health. An extensive search was launched for him.
The deployment unit eventually managed to detain him not far from the residence of the person he allegedly targeted. The flat in question was already under police surveillance at that time.
During searches of his parked vehicles, police found an air shotgun, an air rifle, and three knives. The accused holds a firearms licence, though this is not required for the weapons that were secured. None of the weapons are registered in his name.
The man under investigation ended up in a healthcare facility. Police did not specify precisely whether it is a regular hospital or a psychiatric facility. On Tuesday, authorities stated that he was in a poor mental state. Criminal investigators continue to decline to comment on his motivation.
