A thirty-five-year-old convicted prisoner escaped on Friday, 3 July, from an unsupervised workplace in Kladno. The man fled on a white bicycle.
Kladno investigators launched a search operation. After nine days, on 12 July, they succeeded in locating and apprehending the wanted man in the capital city of Prague.
"We have concluded the search for this wanted person. The wanted man was apprehended by police on 12 July in the territory of Prague. We thank everyone for sharing information and assisting with the search," said police spokeswoman Pavel Truxa.
The case illustrates the risks associated with the use of unsupervised workplaces for sentenced prisoners. Despite the absence of physical supervision, prisoners remain bound by orders, and their escape triggers extensive search operations across regions.
