In Brno's Tuřany district, a tragic incident occurred in which a fifty-year-old man killed his partner, one year his junior, and then took his own life. The incident took place in a flat in a panel building on Hněvkovského Street.
According to police information, the man first attempted to take his own life by jumping from a window, which he failed to do. He then stabbed his partner and subsequently died at the scene. Detectives have not yet disclosed the cause of his death.
Police officers arrived at the scene on Monday shortly after noon. "We are currently investigating the case as a murder followed by suicide," said police spokeswoman Petra Švihálková. She added that after completing the investigation, the case will be closed because the perpetrator is deceased and cannot be prosecuted.
Police ruled out the possibility of a second perpetrator at the scene. The circumstances of the tragedy remain under investigation.
