In the North Bohemian town of Klášterec nad Ohří, detectives charged a fifty-five-year-old woman with bribery. She had attempted to influence the investigation of her acquaintance, whom police had caught driving despite a valid driving ban and under the influence of narcotics. The event was reported by the editorial staff of Týdeník Policie.
Everything began with an evening traffic check. Officers noticed a forty-year-old woman who was reversing in a one-way street into a no-entry zone. During the subsequent records check, it emerged that she had a driving ban, and a preliminary drug test was positive. Law enforcement officers prevented her from continuing to drive.
Her older acquaintance subsequently arrived at the scene. She first inquired about possible sanctions, but then made an offer herself: "If I bribe you a little. I'll bribe you." When asked how she would do this, she responded with the statement that "everyone does it". She repeated this sentence once more. Later, she denied her offer, but according to the recording her intent was evident.
Police officers detained the woman and, after examining the evidence including camera footage, charged her with bribery. Should she be found guilty, the court could impose a sentence of between one and six years imprisonment.
