On Friday afternoon, an olive-coloured terrain vehicle with a protective frame and military-style modifications drove through Šumperk. The driver had large white letters Z affixed to both doors, a symbol associated with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Witnesses spotted the vehicle in several locations around the city. After it stopped at a MOL petrol station on Vítězná Street, someone called both municipal police officers and state police officers. "We received the report just before quarter to four. The caller reported it to both us and the Police of the Czech Republic," said Martin Pelnář, head of the local municipal police.

The patrol photographed the vehicle and identified its owner. Because it concerned a potential criminal act with extremist undertones, they handed over the entire matter to state police officers, who took the man in for further investigation.

Whether it constitutes denial, questioning or approval of genocide remains unclear. Police spokesperson Marie Šafářová told Novinky.cz that she would not provide further information over the weekend. The vehicle was from the Pardubice region.
