Prague Court of Appeal has upheld a three-year conditional sentence and five-year driving ban for businessman Adam Coubal. The man struck a mother with a pushchair on a pavement in Prague 9 last year; the woman died as a result of her injuries.
At the time of the accident, the driver was being treated for health complications following whooping cough and had been forbidden by his doctor to drive a motor vehicle. Nevertheless, he got behind the wheel of a Porsche sports car and caused the tragic collision.
The trial court imposed a conditional custodial sentence of three years with a five-year probation period on the man and also banned him from driving all motor vehicles for five years. The appellate court confirmed this verdict today, and the decision thus becomes final.
