Locked-down offices and schools, panic among parents. Nový Bydžov feared gunman attack
Enhanced vigilance was in place on Monday in the seven-thousand-strong Nový Bydžov in the Králové Hradec region. The town hall locked schools and its own office, with concerns spreading mainly among parents of schoolchildren. No one knew whether a dangerous armed man was moving through the town—a man the police had been searching for since morning at several locations across the Czech Republic.
The wanted man, in a poor mental state, could have headed to Bydžov because of family connections. Around 14:00, police detained him in Prague.
