An incident occurred in Bílina in the Teplice region over the weekend in which Minister for Regional Development Zuzana Mrázová (ANO) was verbally and physically attacked. The 44-year-old attacker allegedly subjected the minister to vulgar abuse and then struck her on the shoulder and threatened to kill her. Fortunately, no injuries occurred.
Minister Mrázová confirmed the entire incident to the website Aktuálně.cz. "Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, I wish to give space to the Czech Police to carry out their work without unnecessary speculation. I thank everyone for their understanding, support and the Czech Police for their quick and professional response," she said.
The Czech Police confirmed information about the attack on social media network X. "A suspected 44-year-old woman verbally and physically attacked the Minister for Regional Development Zuzana Mrázová. The conflict fortunately resulted in no injuries. Criminal investigators are examining the circumstances and motive of the attack," representatives of the security force stated.
Investigators also assured that the act was not politically motivated. "Based on findings to date, we can rule out that this was a politically motivated act," they said.
The accused ended up in hospital. Police officers contacted health services and the woman was hospitalised. Initially police wanted to take the woman into custody, but the state prosecutor rejected this proposal. Criminal investigators are continuing to establish what actually triggered the entire incident.
