A man was shot in the leg during a brawl involving at least ten people in Cologne. Police are searching for several fleeing suspects.

A 37-year-old was seriously injured by a gunshot to the leg during a mass brawl in Cologne-Ossendorf on Saturday afternoon. According to web.de, citing the public prosecutor's office and police, at least ten men were involved in the altercation.
Witnesses alerted police via emergency call at approximately 14:50. The brawl took place behind a temporary workers' accommodation facility. At least one shot was fired before several men fled in vehicles – according to current findings in the direction of motorway 57. First-responding patrol teams found the injured 37-year-old and witnesses at the scene. The man was taken to a hospital, where he initially remained.
Approximately 30 metres from the crime scene, emergency responders secured a vehicle that the alleged perpetrators are said to have left behind. The car is currently undergoing forensic examination. The motive for the altercation remains unclear. Investigators are pursuing suspicion of aggravated assault; a murder squad was established as a precaution.
The incident is part of a series of gun-related incidents in Cologne and the surrounding area. In early August, four people were injured by gunshots and stab wounds during an altercation on an open street in the Mülheim district – investigators pursued leads suggesting a family dispute as the trigger. At the end of August, a man was targeted again in Mülheim: a 41-year-old was injured by multiple gunshots; a 28-year-old suspect was arrested shortly afterwards.
In addition, several shops in Cologne's city centre have been shot at in recent weeks, including a watch shop and a jewellery shop. Following gunshots fired at a detached house in Erftstadt, police are also examining possible connections with the other incidents in the region.
