Eight knives in rucksack: Two arrests at Dresden main railway station
On Thursday evening, federal police officers at Dresden main railway station stopped two men – one was carrying cannabis and a knife, another was carrying eight knives.
Federal Police Dresden seizes knives and drugs
On the evening of Thursday 4 June 2026, the Federal Police Inspectorate Dresden carried out checks at Dresden main railway station and on international trains. According to l-iz.de, two separate incidents took place within a few minutes of each other.
At around 21:17, officers at the main station noticed a young man who immediately fled at the sight of police. He subsequently attempted to resist police measures by force. He was not carrying any identification documents. Police found a total of eight knives in his rucksack: four throwing knives, three other knives and a kitchen knife. A criminal investigation was launched against the 22-year-old Hungarian for breach of weapons law.
A few minutes later, at around 21:20, emergency personnel conducting internal border checks stopped the Eurocity train heading towards Trier. In one compartment, officers encountered a 53-year-old Czech man who gave off a strong smell of cannabis. The man initially denied possession of narcotics, but was found to be carrying a ready-to-hand folding knife in his trouser pocket and a herbal grinder filled with cannabis in his rucksack. He was taken to the Federal Police station at the main railway station, where the items were seized. The man now faces criminal proceedings under the Cannabis Consumption Act as well as an administrative offence notice for possession of the knife.
