In the night leading into Thursday, a suspected arson attack took place in Munich on the premises of defence contractor Rohde & Schwarz. According to 20 Minuten, citing Bild, a witness observed incendiary devices being thrown from a moving car onto a construction site on the company's premises.

At least one of the incendiary devices triggered a fire, which was extinguished by police officers. Another had to be defused by specialist forces. No significant material damage occurred, according to a police spokesperson.

According to Bavarian Radio, two Bulgarian nationals were arrested: a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man. Their involvement in the alleged crime is currently being investigated. A spokesperson for the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office (LKA) confirmed that investigations are being conducted into a possible political background.

The incident is part of a series of similar events in Germany. Previously, there had been a suspected attack using homemade rockets on a substation in Brandenburg as well as another suspected attack on a substation in Bergheim. The precise background to the incidents remains unclear so far.
