Fatal knife attack in Rosenheim: pub manager from England dies at station
Google News CH — Crime (de) reports on a fatal knife attack in the early hours of Sunday morning at Rosenheim station. The victim is Rebecca B., 31, a pub manager from Whitchurch in England, who was on her way to Austria to attend a friend's funeral.
Police were alerted at around 00.50. B. suffered serious injuries in the attack and died shortly afterwards in hospital. There is currently no indication that she knew the suspect. Shortly after the incident, police arrested a 27-year-old homeless German man on suspicion of murder. He is currently in a psychiatric facility.
Deep mourning has taken hold in her home town of Whitchurch. Mourners laid flowers outside the White Swan pub, which B. managed. The pub's operators wrote on Facebook: "It is with heavy hearts that we must inform you that our beloved Becca passed away over the weekend whilst on holiday. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family during this difficult time."
According to the Daily Mail, B. was known as a committed horsewoman, dog lover and sports enthusiast. In 2022 she took part in the London Marathon and raised money for the Spinal Injuries Association. At the White Swan she regularly organised charity events, most recently a fundraiser for a seriously ill child from the community. Richard Shuffill, 82, deputy chairman of the parish council, described her to The Sun as a "breath of fresh air" for the village.
Rosenheim criminal investigation police continue to search for witnesses who observed a confrontation at the station.
