During a routine check on motorway A3 near Passau, German border police arrested a 40-year-old Serbian national who was unable to prove the origin of his Lamborghini Urus, luxury watches and several tens of thousands of euros in cash.

On 1 July, German border control police conducted a traffic check on motorway A3 near Passau, during which a 40-year-old Serbian national was stopped who was driving a Lamborghini Urus with German registration plates. Officers found cash totalling several tens of thousands of euros as well as two luxury watches with a combined value of over 100,000 euros. As the man was unable to prove the origin of the items, police seized the money, watches and vehicle. An investigation was opened against him on suspicion of money laundering.

During the same operation, an Audi was also inspected, in which a valuable collection of silver coins was discovered. The owner of this collection was also unable to provide proof of its origin, so it was likewise seized and an investigation was opened on suspicion of money laundering.

During the operation, two arrest warrants were also executed. In one case, the driver avoided detention by paying an imposed fine. A 24-year-old Romanian national was additionally found in possession of a forged driving licence, leading to criminal proceedings being opened against him for document forgery and driving without a valid licence.

In total, police documented six criminal offences during the multi-hour operation and arrested five wanted persons. Enhanced checks on the A3 near the Austrian border are carried out regularly to combat cross-border crime.
