Motorway flight ends in collision – Three arrests in Wiesbaden-Bierstadt
A pursuit through Bavaria and Hesse kept officers from three police departments busy in the early morning. According to zeit.de, citing the Westhessen, Südosthessen and Unterfranken police departments, a 32-year-old driver in Miltenberg (Unterfranken) drew attention during a check because he was allegedly under the influence of drugs and did not possess a valid driving licence. After a blood test and further measures, he was initially released to go home.
Shortly afterwards, the same vehicle attracted attention again on the Bundesstrasse 469 near Stockstadt in Aschaffenburg district due to its manner of driving. When a patrol tried to stop the driver, the 32-year-old accelerated and fled via the A3 in the direction of Cologne and then via the A66 to Wiesbaden-Bierstadt. There, the vehicle collided with the pursuing patrol car after a U-turn manoeuvre.
The driver and a man and a woman who were in the vehicle were provisionally arrested. Investigations are now underway against the 32-year-old for endangering road traffic, illegal motor racing, driving under the influence of intoxicating substances, and driving without a licence. Police are asking witnesses to come forward with information.
