Marital dispute in Hamburg-Lohbrügge: Woman jumps from balcony, man barricades with knife
In Hamburg-Lohbrügge, a woman jumped from a balcony following a marital dispute and sustained serious injuries. Her husband barricaded himself in the flat with a knife.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, neighbours alerted police to Hofweide street in Hamburg-Lohbrügge. According to BILD, a violent altercation had previously broken out in the flat of a deaf couple.
The wife jumped from the raised ground floor of a multi-family building and sustained serious injuries in the process. Rescue workers provided treatment at the scene and transported her to a hospital.
Her husband meanwhile barricaded himself in the flat. On several occasions he stepped onto the balcony with blood-stained hands and a bloody T-shirt, holding a knife in his hand and gesticulating wildly.
Police cordoned off the area extensively. Seven patrol cars arrived, officers in protective vests with shields surrounded the building. Due to the unclear situation, a specialist tactical unit was additionally requested.
Communication with the man proved difficult: since both spouses are deaf, direct contact by emergency personnel was scarcely possible.
The situation eased only when the couple's son arrived at the scene. Through sign language, he managed to communicate with his father and persuade him to surrender. The man threw the knife away, left the flat voluntarily and submitted to arrest without resistance.
He was subsequently handcuffed onto a stretcher and taken to hospital under police escort – he himself had a bleeding injury on his back.
According to police, how the dispute arose and how serious the injuries of both spouses are remain unclear at this time. An investigation has been opened.
