Burglary series in Reesen: jewellery, cash and construction machinery stolen
In the lower district of Reesen, a burglary occurred at an outbuilding of a detached house during the night of 30 to 31 March 2026. A 70-year-old resident discovered in the morning that a steel safe had been opened, although it should have been locked. Unknown offenders had gained access and forced open the safe. In doing so, they stole all the jewellery contained in it as well as cash. Another safe in the same building was also opened, but remained empty.
The intruders had previously overcome the property fence and gained access to the outbuilding. Criminal police conducted evidence securing at the scene. The exact value of the stolen items has not yet been determined.
Only a few hours later, between 7:16 and 8:03 on 31 March, another burglary occurred on Berliner Chaussee in Reesen. Here too, the offenders gained access to the property and broke into an outbuilding. This time they stole several valuable construction tools. The damage is estimated at at least several thousand euros.
Investigators do not rule out that both crimes were committed by the same gang. Both crime scenes are in immediate proximity to each other. Police are seeking witnesses who observed suspicious persons or vehicles. Information is being accepted by Jerichower Land police station on 03921 920 0 or by email.
One of the affected properties had an alarm system installed, which however did not trigger. Police therefore advise regular checks of the functionality of alarm systems and video surveillance systems, particularly before prolonged absences.
