Explosive devices have been found at a transformer substation of the Jänschwalde thermal power plant in German Brandenburg. Pyrotechnicians have rendered them harmless; there was no danger to the surrounding population.

As reported by 24ur, explosive devices have been discovered at a transformer substation near the Jänschwalde thermal power plant in the eastern German state of Brandenburg. Police in the municipality of Turnow-Preilack secured the site, and bomb disposal experts attended the scene.
According to local police information, these are so-called unconventional explosive and incendiary devices. Competent authorities have not yet revealed further details.
Local newspaper Märkische Allgemeine reported that rescue units found and disabled several rocket devices equipped with explosives at the site. Police emphasised that the public was not exposed to danger.
The suspected target of the planted explosives is said to have been to cause extensive power outages in one of the blocks of the nearby coal-fired thermal power plant. Network operator 50Hertz told Reuters that "unknown perpetrators have so far caused damage to several electrical lines in the company's transmission network".
