Dortmund prosecutor's office resumes criminal proceedings against JP Kraemer
The Dortmund prosecutor's office has reopened criminal investigations against Jean Pierre "JP" Kraemer for assault and property damage – as reported by WELT citing a spokesman for the authorities to the German Press Agency. The 45-year-old TV and YouTube star had become known primarily for the format "Die PS-Profis".
The proceedings had initially been discontinued because Kraemer's wife waived her right to press charges at the scene and did not file a complaint of public interest in prosecution. Subsequently, however, a lawyer acting on behalf of the woman filed a criminal complaint and requested that proceedings be reopened.
Kraemer had partially admitted to the allegations publicly in the previous week and apologised to his wife in a further statement. He had previously accused her of also striking him. The 25-year-old told "Bild" that she had hit him on the chest in a defensive situation. The couple has separated and is currently divorcing.
On Tuesday, Kraemer also announced that he would be closing his businesses. According to media reports, approximately 80 employees are to be affected by this step. In a podcast, Kraemer had recently put the annual turnover of his group of companies at around 100 million euros.
Kraemer's soon-to-be ex-wife has meanwhile become a victim herself: her lawyer confirmed that she had received threats via Instagram and that charges have been filed against those responsible. According to "Ruhr Nachrichten" and "Bild", she was threatened with death and rape.
