Dortmund public prosecutor resumes proceedings against JP Kraemer

The Dortmund public prosecutor has resumed investigations into Jean Pierre "JP" Kraemer for assault and criminal damage. This is reported by WELT citing a spokesperson for the authority who had informed the German Press Agency.

Proceedings against the 45-year-old tuner and entrepreneur had initially been suspended because his wife waived her right to press charges at the scene of the incident and no public interest in prosecution was identified. Subsequently, however, a lawyer for his wife came forward, filed a complaint and requested that proceedings be reopened.

Kraemer, known from the TV and YouTube production "Die PS-Profis", had partially admitted to the allegations publicly last week and apologised to his wife in a statement. Previously, he had accused her of also hitting him. The 25-year-old told "Bild" she had struck him on the chest in self-defence. The couple has since separated and divorce proceedings are underway.

On Tuesday, Kraemer additionally announced he would be closing his businesses. According to media reports, approximately 80 employees are affected. In a podcast, Kraemer had put the annual turnover of his group of companies at around 100 million euros.

Meanwhile, the ex-wife's lawyer confirmed that his client had received threats via Instagram and filed a criminal complaint against those responsible. According to "Ruhr Nachrichten" and "Bild", the woman had been threatened with death and rape.
