As bild.de reports, Bremen targeted-search officers apprehended the suspect Kayahan Ö. on Friday in the city area. The 32-year-old was already on his way to the police headquarters – accompanied by a lawyer – when the arrest was made.
The man is accused of attacking his 30-year-old former partner Anna R. and her twelve-year-old son in front of their home on Sunday. Anna R. succumbed to her stab wounds. Her son was also injured, but is not in life-threatening condition.
Kayahan Ö. and the deceased were in a relationship for several years and have a two-year-old daughter together. Anna's other children – the twelve-year-old son and his 14-year-old sister – are not his.
After the deed, the suspect initially fled. Investigators quickly identified him as the former partner of the deceased. Since Thursday, a public manhunt had been underway, with police publishing photographs of him.
In Anna R.'s family, anger and desperation prevail. Cousin Svetlana K. told bild.de: "We had warned Anna about this man. We didn't want her to move in with him back then. When she came back, he kept appearing near her, threatening her. We are completely devastated, don't know how things will continue for the three children, and have now called for donations."
