According to officers, the suspect is said to have performed the gesture associated with the Hitler salute twice on the train. At the same time, she shouted the slogan "Sieg Heil". Police did not provide further details about the exact circumstances or the date and time of the incident.
Investigators are now appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone who recognised the woman or can provide information about her identity is asked to contact the police. The authority published an appeal requesting information about the unknown person.
The use of symbols of unconstitutional organisations, which include the Hitler salute and corresponding slogans, is punishable under law in Germany pursuant to § 86a of the Criminal Code. Conviction can result in up to three years' imprisonment or a fine.
