Woman's body found in Henneberg Park, Hamburg: 22-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder
In the Hamburg district of Poppenbüttel, a walker discovered a dead woman (60) on Saturday morning. Hours later, police arrested a 22-year-old German woman.
Dead woman on the Alster – arrest warrant issued against 22-year-old
In Henneberg Park on the Alster walking path in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel, a walker discovered the body of a 60-year-old woman early on Saturday morning and immediately called the emergency services. Firefighters were only able to confirm the woman's death — and in doing so discovered signs of violence.
Police immediately established a murder investigation team, which secured evidence and searched the immediate area. Police spokesman Patrick Schlüse stated: "In the course of intensive operational measures, a 22-year-old German woman came into focus for investigators." On Saturday evening, officers located the suspect in the district of Alsterdorf and arrested her.
State Prosecutor's Office spokeswoman Mia-Christine Sperling-Karstens told BILD: "An arrest warrant was issued on suspicion of murder. Investigations into the motive and background, as well as the question of whether the two women knew each other, are ongoing." According to BILD information, an expert assessment is also to be obtained to evaluate the mental state of the 22-year-old at the time of the alleged crime. Whether a possible mental illness of the suspect is connected to the crime remains unclear. Police are not providing any further information on this.
