A man has been killed in Aschersleben (Salzland district) during a dispute involving three people. The Magdeburg public prosecutor's office has subsequently ordered investigative custody for two suspects.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning. At around 8 a.m., three men – two aged 56 and one aged 57 – became involved in a conflict for reasons that remain unknown. According to information from police provided to MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT, a stabbing weapon was used during the altercation. Investigators ruled out that death resulted from mere physical violence such as punches or kicks.

Emergency medical personnel who were called to the scene were unable to help one of the victims and had to establish that death had occurred. The other two people involved initially fled the scene, but were apprehended by officers in the immediate vicinity.

One of those arrested sustained serious injuries and is still being treated in a clinic. After his discharge, he is to be transferred to a prison. The other suspect, aged 57, is already in custody.

The reason for the escalation remains unclear. Investigators are currently questioning witnesses and are planning a forensic examination of the deceased. The case is being pursued on suspicion of intentional killing. All three men involved are German citizens.
