During this phase, police temporarily lost sight of the vehicle — the accomplice may have used this exact moment to exit the vehicle. In any case, he was no longer in the car when the suspect was arrested, according to investigators.
Crash in Niederursel — arrest without resistance
At around 3.45 a.m., the Fiat left the A661 at the Heddernheim junction. According to police, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Marie-Curie-Straße and Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße in Frankfurt-Niederursel without any intervention by the pursuing officers. Responding patrols surrounded the vehicle, and the 33-year-old driver was subsequently arrested provisionally. A police helicopter was also deployed during the search.
