The Harz police station in Saxony-Anhalt has recorded several offences in recent days. Officers are investigating against a drunk motorist and in connection with a burglary at a medical facility.
Car accident under the influence of alcohol
At approximately 21:10 on 25 May 2026, a local resident in Veckenstedt lost control of his four-wheel-drive vehicle. He was driving on Teufelsklippe towards the road Am Höfen when he suddenly veered off the road to the left. The vehicle knocked down a garden fence and came to rest in a hedge.
During a subsequent check, emergency responders detected the smell of alcohol. A voluntary breath test showed a reading of 2.10 per mille. It also emerged that the man did not possess a driving licence. Officers subsequently arranged for a blood sample to be taken at a nearby hospital. Two proceedings are now underway against him – one for drink driving and another for driving without a licence. The total damage to the car, fence and hedge is estimated at approximately 2,000 euros.
Theft from medical practice
Between 22 May (10:30) and 26 May (6:40), unknown individuals forcibly entered a practice on Bahnhofstrasse in Ermsleben. The perpetrators searched several rooms and stole an emergency backpack containing a ventilation mask, dressing materials and an oxygen cylinder. Also missing are a card payment terminal and a portable computer with charging cable. The damage caused is approximately 1,100 euros.
The criminal investigation department secured evidence at the scene and opened an investigation into aggravated theft. Anyone with information about the perpetrators is asked to contact 03941/674-293 or report online via the electronic police station.
