Body found at Alster in Hamburg: 22-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder
The body of a 60-year-old woman was discovered in Hennebergpark in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel on Saturday. A 22-year-old German woman is in custody pending trial.

In Hennebergpark at the Alsterwanderweg in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel, a jogger discovered the lifeless body of a woman early on Saturday morning and called emergency services. Fire service personnel established that the 60-year-old was dead and found traces of violence.
Police immediately set up a murder investigation team and carried out searches in the vicinity. According to police spokesman Patrick Schlüse, a 22-year-old German woman came under suspicion in the course of these measures. The suspected perpetrator was arrested the same evening in the district of Alsterdorf.
State prosecutor Mia-Christine Sperling-Karstens told BILD: "An arrest warrant has been issued on suspicion of murder. Investigations into the motive and background, and the question of whether the two women knew each other, are ongoing."
According to BILD information, an expert assessment is to clarify the mental state of the 22-year-old at the time of the alleged crime. Police did not rule out the possibility that the suspect may be mentally ill. Whether this is connected with the offence remains unclear at present.
In the same park, the Alstertallauf took place on Sunday — directly at the scene of the crime.
Investigators are urgently seeking witnesses who made observations in the park between Thursday evening and Saturday morning. The Hamburg police request information be reported to 040-428 65 67 89.
