Man threatens pedestrians with stabbing motions at Sendlinger-Tor-Platz – no knife found
A 48-year-old threatened pedestrians in Munich with stabbing motions. More than ten patrol cars and the USK were deployed – police found no knife.
Large-scale operation at Sendlinger-Tor-Platz following reports of armed man
As reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, a 48-year-old man threatened several pedestrians at Sendlinger-Tor-Platz in Munich in the night of Saturday to Sunday around midnight. Witnesses who reported the incident near a popular Irish bar and a Munich brewery pub to police described a man with a knife.
The 48-year-old is said to have made stabbing motions at several people. More than ten patrol cars and the Bavarian support unit (USK) were then deployed. Officers arrested the man without anyone being injured in the process.
However, no knife was found during the subsequent search of the man. He was nonetheless charged with threatening behaviour. Since he continued to display aggressive behaviour, he spent the night in police custody. Munich criminal police are now investigating the case.
