Knife attack in Paderborn: 55-year-old stabs defender of young women
A 55-year-old man is alleged to have stabbed a 39-year-old Ukrainian in Paderborn after the latter confronted him while he was harassing young women. The suspect has been arrested.

According to zeit.de, a 55-year-old man in Paderborn is alleged to have seriously injured a 39-year-old with a knife – in revenge because the latter had previously protected young Ukrainian women from him. The suspect, a German man known to police, was arrested according to the victim's account.
According to police, the 39-year-old stated that during a walk he became aware of a group of young Ukrainian women whom the 55-year-old was seriously threatening and harassing. The man intervened; as the older man left, the victim continued on his way. Shortly afterwards, the 55-year-old attacked him with a knife.
Witnesses found the seriously injured man unconscious and called the emergency services. Rescue workers took him to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery during the night into Sunday. A trail of blood extended 250 metres from the discovery site through the city centre to a passage. An initial search proved unsuccessful.
The victim identified the suspect from photographs, whereupon police arrested the 55-year-old in Paderborn. The public prosecutor's office intends to pursue an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted manslaughter and grievous bodily harm. The 39-year-old is no longer in mortal danger.
