Knife attack in Lippstadt: 21-year-old seriously injured, emergency operation saved his life

A 21-year-old was attacked in the city centre of Lippstadt by two men and stabbed in the back with a knife. Police have established a murder commission and are searching for the perpetrators.

According to WELT, a 21-year-old was seriously injured by a knife wound to the back in Lippstadt city centre on Saturday morning. The man was out with a 21-year-old woman when two men initially followed the pair, spoke to them and verbally abused them. According to police and the Paderborn public prosecutor's office, the perpetrators then proceeded to attack.

The attackers beat and kicked the 21-year-old to the ground. The man initially managed to free himself and flee with his companion, but was caught up again. One of the pursuers then stabbed him in the back with a knife. Both perpetrators subsequently fled the scene.

The victim was transported by rescue helicopter to a hospital in Dortmund and underwent emergency surgery. Police are searching for two perpetrators aged around 25 years. The first is described as approximately 190 centimetres tall with a slim build, black hair and full beard; he spoke broken German and wore a blue hooded jacket. The second perpetrator is approximately 175 centimetres tall, also has black hair and a full beard and was dressed in black.

A man matching the second physical description was arrested near the scene. The Dortmund police headquarters took over the investigation and established a murder commission. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
