Fleeing at 210 km/h: Police investigating suspected illegal racing in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

As reported by zeit.de, a 24-year-old man fled police in Demmin (Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district) at speeds of up to 210 kilometres per hour during the night from Friday to Saturday. Officers noticed him shortly before midnight because he was driving through the town without lights and significantly over the speed limit.

A patrol car signalled the driver to stop – instead, the man fled. His vehicle bottomed out on the road and eventually came to a halt. During the subsequent inspection, it emerged that the 24-year-old did not possess a driving licence and his car was not registered.

Police are now investigating him, amongst other things, on suspicion of illegal vehicle racing, a police spokeswoman announced on Monday.
