The bar operator sustained life-threatening injuries. A 74-year-old witness who attempted to come to the victim's aid was also injured, according to police.
According to an eyewitness, a loud quarrel on the square had preceded the attack. The suspected perpetrator then allegedly suddenly stabbed the restaurateur. The witness told WDR that the man had been struck in the face and stomach. Other unwilling witnesses reported that a considerable amount of blood had been spilled.
