Güstrow murder trial: child witnesses saw Fabian at alleged time of offence
Several children testified in court that they had seen eight-year-old Fabian in Güstrow on 10 October – at a time when, according to prosecutors, he should already have been dead.
Child witnesses contradict prosecutors' findings in trial over Fabian's death
In the murder trial concerning eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow, three children gave evidence as witnesses, thereby calling into question the prosecutors' investigative findings. As reported by WELT, the witnesses stated on request of the defence that they had seen the boy in the town at the alleged time of the offence.
A classmate described in a video interview having met Fabian twice on his bicycle in the early afternoon of 10 October. At that time, according to prosecutors' view, Fabian should already have been dead. A second witness confirmed the first of these meetings.
The children recalled a brief greeting. "He said 'hello' back to me," one of them told the court. Both described Fabian as wearing a jumper and jogging trousers. They could not provide further details about clothing and the bicycle. The first witness also acknowledged that he could not say with absolute certainty whether the meeting had taken place on 10 October or already a day earlier.
Additionally, a neighbouring girl testified as a witness. She stated that she had seen Fabian on the alleged day of the offence between 14 and 15 o'clock directly in front of her front door – on foot and pursued by two men dressed in black. The boy had turned around several times, had walked increasingly faster and finally turned into a side street. The girl described his clothing differently from the other witnesses: she claims to have seen him wearing a jacket, not a jumper. According to her own statement, the child knew Fabian only by sight.
On trial is 30-year-old Gina H.. Prosecutors accuse her of luring Fabian from his flat in Güstrow on 10 October 2025, subsequently stabbing him at a pond near Klein Upahl – approximately 15 kilometres south of the town – and setting his body on fire. The alleged motive is the defendant's relationship with Fabian's father and the temporary end of this relationship. Gina H. denies any involvement in the offence.
