Proceedings began today at Paderborn District Court against a 29-year-old defendant. He is alleged to have seriously injured his former partner in January at a municipal residential facility in Delbrück.
According to the prosecution's account, the man attacked his ex-wife in front of their children with a drinking glass bottle. The vessel shattered during the altercation. The splinters that resulted caused the injured party to suffer deep wounds to the head and neck, some of which penetrated into the bone tissue.
The defendant has been in custody since the incident. He has so far made no statement to investigators or the court regarding the actions he is accused of.
