During a traffic control on motorway A3 near Passau, Bavarian border police stopped a 40-year-old Serbian national. The man was unable to provide evidence of the origin of his Lamborghini Urus, a large sum of cash, and two luxury watches.

During a traffic control on motorway A3 near Passau, police stopped a 40-year-old Serbian national driving a Lamborghini Urus with German number plates. According to specialist magazine Auto-Motor-Und-Sport, the control took place on 1 July.
The man was carrying several tens of thousands of euros in cash as well as two luxury watches worth over 100,000 euros. Since he was unable to provide evidence of the origin of the money, watches, and vehicle, police confiscated the items and initiated an investigation on suspicion of money laundering.
In the course of the control measures, an Audi was also inspected. During this, officers discovered a valuable silver coin collection. The owner of this vehicle was also unable to explain the origin of the collection, whereupon it too was confiscated and an investigation on suspicion of money laundering was initiated.
During the several-hour operation, two arrest warrants were also executed. In one case, the driver managed to avoid custody by paying a monetary penalty. In the case of a 24-year-old Romanian national, police additionally discovered a forged driving licence. A criminal investigation was initiated against him for document forgery and driving without a valid driving licence.
In total, police registered six criminal offences during the operation and arrested five individuals who were on wanted lists. Such intensified controls on the A3 near the Austrian border are carried out regularly to combat cross-border crime.
