Following a break-in at the Calau fire station equipment house in September, police have arrested a 28-year-old German man. Stolen rescue equipment was seized during a search of his flat in Berlin.

Police officers from the State Criminal Police Office Brandenburg and Berlin arrested a 28-year-old German man at his flat in Berlin on 21 September. The man is suspected of breaking into the fire station equipment house in Calau (Oberspreewald-Lausitz district) on 13 September, according to Calau.de.
During the search, officers found various break-in tools as well as a rescue spreader and a battery-powered hydraulic rescue tool that were stolen during the break-in in Calau. The equipment is to be returned to the fire brigade as soon as possible.
The suspect is also said to have been involved in a break-in at a fire station equipment house in Luckau (Dahme-Spreewald district). Investigators from the Joint Investigation Team (GEG) Berlin-Brandenburg are examining possible connections to further break-ins and thefts at fire station equipment houses.
