Raid on Delitzscher Straße: late-night shop sealed after drugs found
Following a tip-off about counterfeit e-cigarette liquids, police raided and subsequently sealed a late-night shop on Delitzscher Straße in the Leipzig district of Eutritzsch on Monday. As mdr.de reports, officers discovered 150 counterfeit e-cigarettes and more than 140 grammes of cannabis during the search.
Investigations are underway against the shop owner and an employee – both 30 years old and of Afghan origin – on suspicion of fraud and trafficking in narcotics in significant quantities. In addition to police, the city ordnance service and customs officials were involved in the operation.
Residents of the affected districts have been complaining for some time about noise at night, syringes in parks and open drug transactions outside late-night shops. Despite repeated raids and closures, illegal drug trading remains a visible problem in some districts of Leipzig.
