Police operation in South Hesse: 450 kg of non-ferrous metal and counterfeit perfume seized

As zeit.de reports, plainclothes officers have initiated a total of twelve investigations as part of a coordinated operation against burglaries and thefts in South Hesse. Forty-eight vehicles and 69 people were inspected on Wednesday last week – supported by officers from Rhineland-Palatinate.
On the A67 near Gernsheim, officers stopped a van with British number plates, in which three men were sitting. The vehicle was uninsured. In the cargo area, police found approximately 450 kilogrammes of non-ferrous metal: copper, brass and electrical cables. As the men could not provide a convincing explanation for the origin of the metal, they were provisionally arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen goods.
Another case occurred on the A5 between Darmstadt and Frankfurt. Officers noticed a vehicle with several occupants, which later parked in Frankfurt's railway station district. There the men attempted to sell bottles of perfume to passers-by – which according to police were counterfeits of high-end brands. Twenty-five bottles were seized, and proceedings were initiated for violation of trademark law.
The investigations concern receiving stolen goods and trademark violations as well as fraud, forgery of documents and unlawful residence.
